Hi! I'm Annie.

I'm an NYC-based freelance writer, author, editor, and reporter with 16 years of experience in national lifestyle media. My specialties are travel and health, and I especially love looking at how and where those two intersect. I’m so obsessed with this topic, I’ve written two books about it! My first, Destination Wellness (out May 11th, 2021 from Chronicle Books), highlights my solo trip around the world in search of healthy living philosophies. The book is meant to be an antidote to the overly commercial wellness industry, a reminder that well-being is not about what you buy but how you live.

My second book, Island Wisdom (out October 25, 2022), which I co-authored with Native Hawaiian & cultural advisor Kainoa Daines, is also published by Chronicle Books and features an assortment of beautiful Hawaiian traditions and practices for a meaningful life. It’s both a primer on how to apply Indigenous Native Hawaiian principles to your own life wherever you live, and a guide to how to be a responsible and conscious traveler when you visit Hawai'i.

Before going freelance, I was a staff editor for 12 years at various publications, both digital and print, most recently at Condé Nast’s SELF. I was also the travel editor at BuzzFeed, and an editor at Yahoo! Travel, Cosmopolitan (print), and Good Housekeeping (print).

I’ve written for many other publications, too, including AFAR, Condé Nast Traveler, Vogue, Marie Claire, Travel + Leisure, InStyle, Lonely Planet, New York Magazine, CNBC, Elle, United Hemispheres, Bon Appétit, Ad Age, Brides, Well + Good, mindbodygreen, & more. I also work with brands on everything from copywriting to editorial strategy to branded content.

I grew up in Barrington, Rhode Island (a coastal town just outside Providence), and went to Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA, where I majored in American Studies and spent my junior year abroad in London and Norwich, England. Aside from travel, my favorite hobbies are running, yoga, photography, listening to tons of music (mostly reggae, folk, jam, and hip-hop), cooking, and just hanging out.
